For significant achievement and academic prowess benefitting this association and the United
States government. From a nationwide competition, he was selected as the most outstanding
scholar for 2004. As such, he is now a Byer Scholar. His efforts to utilize agricultural products to create environmentally friendly packaging is of the highest order and will have a significant impact on support to the US military. His novel research uses renewable resources to replace petroleum based packaging. By a restructuring of the compounds involved, a quickly biodegradable package can realistically be used to overcome many environmental concerns of our ground and naval forces. His research can positively impact the future of our military.
